The right 2026 Ford F-150 is not only an engine or trim decision. Cab size controls passenger space. Truck bed dimensions control how your tools, feed, lumber, camping equipment, and weekend cargo fit. The combination determines how long the finished truck is, which is the number that matters in a garage, barn lot, or crowded parking space.

Ford offers three cabs and three bed lengths, but they do not form nine possible combinations. Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew each have specific bed choices. Shoppers often call those beds the short bed, the 6.5-foot bed, and the long bed. This guide explains Ford’s five published 2026 combinations and the official F-150 bed size for each one.

Use the numbers here to narrow your list. Check the window sticker and equipment on the truck before you buy. You can shop new Ford F-150 inventory at Belle Fourche Ford when you are ready to compare actual trucks.

F-150 cab and bed sizes at a glance

  • Regular Cab: 6.5-foot or 8-foot bed
  • SuperCab: 6.5-foot bed
  • SuperCrew: 5.5-foot or 6.5-foot bed

The 5.5-foot short bed has a 67.1-inch floor and 52.8 cubic feet of volume. The 6.5-foot bed has a 78.9-inch floor and 62.3 cubic feet. The 8-foot long bed has a 97.6-inch floor and 77.4 cubic feet. F-150 bed width is the same across all three: 50.6 inches between the wheelhouses, with 21.4 inches of inside height.

The shortest published setup is Regular Cab with the 6.5-foot bed at 209.4 inches long. The longest is SuperCrew with the 6.5-foot bed at 243.8 inches with 4×2 or 243.9 inches with 4×4. That is a difference of more than 34 inches from one end of the range to the other.

5.5-foot F-150 bed

The 5.5-foot short bed measures 67.1 inches along the inside floor and holds 52.8 cubic feet. Ford pairs it with SuperCrew. It is the shortest F-150 bed size in the 2026 lineup and keeps a SuperCrew truck at 232.0 inches overall.

This setup makes sense when rear-seat room matters every day. It can suit families, work crews, dogs, hunting partners, and long drives where adults need a real second row. Measure any toolbox, ATV, motorcycle, or other large item before treating the short bed as the answer. An open tailgate or bed extender changes how cargo fits, but it does not change the rated bed dimensions.

6.5-foot F-150 bed

2026 Ford F-150 Regular Cab with 6.5-foot bed at Wareing Belle Fourche Ford
The Regular Cab with the 6.5-foot bed is the shortest published 2026 F-150 configuration. Pictures for illustration purposes only.

The 6.5-foot bed has a 78.9-inch floor and 62.3 cubic feet of cargo volume. It is the only bed Ford lists across all three cab types. Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew can each be paired with it at the model-line level.

It is a useful middle choice for fencing supplies, tools, outdoor equipment, feed, and home projects. The cab choice still changes the finished truck. Regular Cab with this bed is 209.4 inches long. SuperCab is 232.0 inches. SuperCrew reaches 243.8 or 243.9 inches. You gain the same bed floor in all three, then choose how much cab space and total truck length you can use.

8-foot F-150 bed

2026 Ford F-150 Regular Cab with 8-foot bed at Wareing Belle Fourche Ford
The Regular Cab with the 8-foot bed is the longest-bed configuration Ford publishes for the 2026 F-150. Pictures for illustration purposes only.

The 8-foot long bed measures 97.6 inches at the floor and holds 77.4 cubic feet. Ford pairs it with Regular Cab for 2026. SuperCab does not get this bed on the current 2026 specifications page. This is the cargo-first choice for long tools, building materials, ranch supplies, and jobs where bed length matters more than a rear seat.

An 8-foot label is a useful shopping term, not a substitute for checking your load. The published inside floor is 97.6 inches with the tailgate closed. Wheel wells, a toolbox, a fuel tank, a bed divider, and tiedown needs can reduce the space available to your cargo. A standard 4-foot by 8-foot sheet is 48 inches by 96 inches. That width fits between the 50.6-inch wheelhouses. The 96-inch length fits the 8-foot floor with the tailgate closed. It does not fit the 6.5-foot floor without hanging past the closed tailgate.

Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew compared

Regular Cab

Regular Cab has one seating row and a maximum of three occupants. Ford lists 43.9 inches of front legroom. There is no rear seat. It gives you both the shortest finished truck and the largest bed choice, depending on whether you select the 6.5-foot or 8-foot bed.

Choose it when the truck is mainly a tool and your usual passenger count is one to three. The 6.5-foot version is the easiest published F-150 configuration to place in a shorter parking space. The 8-foot version gives up some maneuverability for the most cargo length.

SuperCab

SuperCab has two seating rows with 33.5 inches of rear legroom. Ford lists seating for five or six, depending on the seat configuration. Its 6.5-foot bed gives you 78.9 inches of cargo floor. The complete truck is 232.0 inches long.

This cab can work when the rear seats are used by children, occasional passengers, or for protected storage. Sit in the rear before choosing it for adults on regular Black Hills drives. The 10.1-inch rear legroom difference between SuperCab and SuperCrew is easy to notice. SuperCab is not Ford’s crew cab. Ford’s four full-size rear doors and the largest second row belong to SuperCrew.

SuperCrew

SuperCrew provides 43.6 inches of rear legroom and seating for five or six, based on the seat configuration. It is the passenger-first cab. Ford pairs it with the 5.5-foot or 6.5-foot bed.

The short-bed version is 232.0 inches long, exactly the same published overall length as SuperCab with the 6.5-foot bed. The choice is clear on paper. SuperCrew gives the second row more room and uses the shorter bed. SuperCab keeps the longer bed and gives the rear row less legroom.

How to measure an F-150 bed

Measure from the inside of the bulkhead, the wall behind the cab, to the inside of the closed tailgate. That is the number Ford publishes as bed floor length: 67.1, 78.9, or 97.6 inches. Opening the tailgate can support longer cargo. It does not change the official bed size.

Confirm the cab and bed on the window sticker if the truck is new. On a used F-150, the same tape measurement is more reliable than a listing photo. Cab and bed pairings can change by model year, so use our F-150 generations guide before you apply this 2026 matrix to an older truck.

How long each F-150 setup feels

Overall length matters before you reach the trail, ranch, or jobsite. Check your garage from the closed door to the nearest wall or workbench. Leave room to walk around the truck and open the tailgate. Measure the parking area near your trailer, shop, or gate. A truck that fits on paper may still be awkward if the approach is tight.

Regular Cab with the 6.5-foot bed is the compact choice within this lineup. Regular Cab with the 8-foot bed is 18.7 inches longer. Both 232.0-inch combinations need more turning and parking room. SuperCrew with the 6.5-foot bed adds nearly another foot over those trucks.

Do not judge only from the driver’s seat. Park each candidate, back it around a corner, and place it near the kind of space you use at home. Cameras and parking sensors can help, but the wheelbase and body length stay the same.

Choosing more cab or more bed

Start with the busiest day your truck will face. Count the people who need a seat. Measure the cargo that cannot be folded, disassembled, or moved to a trailer. Decide where the truck sleeps at night.

  • Daily family truck: Start with SuperCrew. Compare the 5.5-foot bed against your real cargo before moving to the longer truck.
  • Work truck with occasional rear passengers: Compare SuperCab 6.5 against SuperCrew 5.5. Both are 232.0 inches long.
  • Two-person ranch or trade truck: Regular Cab can put more of the truck’s length into the bed.
  • Long cargo: Regular Cab with the 8-foot bed provides the largest published floor and volume.
  • Adults in the second row: SuperCrew gives 43.6 inches of rear legroom compared with 33.5 inches in SuperCab.

Trim comes after the body decision for many buyers. Our 2026 F-150 trim guide explains the lineup. Ford does not offer every cab and bed on every trim. Build your short list from combinations Ford currently publishes, then confirm the exact model on its window sticker.

If you are comparing new and used trucks, cab and bed availability can change by model year. Use our F-150 generations guide before applying this 2026 matrix to an older truck.

Cab and bed choices affect towing and payload

A longer bed does not automatically give every truck a higher payload or towing rating. Cab, bed, engine, drivetrain, axle ratio, packages, trim equipment, passengers, accessories, cargo, and trailer tongue weight all matter. Two F-150s that look similar can carry different ratings.

Use Ford’s published maximums only as shopping ceilings for properly configured trucks. Confirm the exact vehicle’s labels and equipment before matching it to a trailer or load. The tire and loading label gives vehicle-specific occupant and cargo information. The window sticker identifies factory equipment. Ford’s current towing resources and the owner’s manual explain the remaining limits.

Count people, cargo in the cab, cargo in the bed, accessories, and trailer tongue weight. A bed with more volume creates room for more gear, but available space is not permission to exceed the truck’s ratings.
